After reading the topic of this post I am sure many will wonder and say "What Crap!!!" Kuch aur nahi mila likhne ko ise.. But sorry to disappoint you people I had to write on this incident as this is really a memorable one for me.. Before 7 Aug 2008 I had tried twice to donate blood.. Once I was rejected saying tha above 18 only [at that time I was in second year of my college :-(] and next time I was rejected becoz i had suffered from jaundice before 2 months of blood donation date. Newaz, this time I was mentally prepared to donate blood and wanted to make sure it is successful :-). Actually one of my office collegue's father had a Bypass surgery and was in need to blood so a mail was circulated and i responded positively to donate blood. I along with few other collegues reached Ruby Hall hospital aroune 1 PM. There we had to fill in a form and after that our blood pressure, weight and pulse was checked. [How can something unusual not happen with me] I was the last person to be tested. Everyone before me had pased the routine tests. The doctor tried to feel my pulse, but he couldnot find the vein in my right hand to listen to pulse and had to order for stethoscope to measure my pulse rate. [:-o well normally a doctor just uses his finger tips at base of palm n feels the pulse rate but in my case he couldnot trace the pulse itself :-P ha ha ha..] Then after few minutes hesitatingly but he gave me OK. Then we were all asked to have a light lunch and assemble together for next blood test and there after we could donate blood. After light lunch we came back and again one by one everyone went to give a blood test. Each one described that the doctors have an instrument which they aim at the ring finger n prick at it to get few drops of blood. well they were scaring me a bit becoz I have given blood for test only through the vein at inner elbow of right hand and never from finger. Asusual I was last person to enter the room. Before the doctors could do anything I asked them to take blood from my right hand and not from finger, but they refused and said if I am scared of this little needle then how will I face the bigger one so I decided to close my eyes and get over with it. I also warned them not go get scared in case I shout ;-) well they said its OK as the walls are sound proof :-)!!. Newaz it was not that painful but like an insect bite.. ;-) so I didnot shout too :-P.. After that I was the first one to be called to donate blood... Well, I wasnot scared at all in fact I was excited and had butterflies in my stomach again :)... I was asked to lie on a bed and there was an instrument like the blood pressure reader only. My left arm was tied with that pressure meter and the attendand tried to find vein in my left hand. I bugged him with my questions..
Me: Bhaiya, kitna time lagta hai?
Attendant: 5 minute. Ap pehli baar donate kar rahe ho?
Me: Haan
Attendant: Ghabrao mat apko apta bhi nahi chalega..
Me: Arey nahi mai ghabra nahi rahi bas yu he pucha.. agar normally 5 minute lagta hai to I wanted to record ki mujhe kitna time lagega?
[Attendant A confused look ;-)]
Finally, the attendant gave up on finding a vein in my hand. Later a nurse came and then another one came, but Alas both of them failed to find a vein in my hand [;)]. Newaz, then came a doctor and he too was amazed on not able to find a vein by his usual methods but he was a doc so he did manage to insert the needle by some of his calculations [;)]. There after he stood there for 30 minutes as the blood flow was very slow since the needle was inserted at an angle and not parallel to my vein [:D].. but he concluded that i have got very thin veins and I must join gym to thicken my veins [:)].. After adha ghanta ki bakar I had managed to keep the environment jolly.. and waha everybody was like tumhare jaise log hospital aane chahiye to hospital gloomy kam lagta hai [;)].. Then ye hua ki jitna time ek bande ko blood donate karne mein lagta hai uska double time mujhe laga.. I HAD TO MAKE A RECORD in here [;)]..maine pucha doctor ko ki after so much of patience you ahe shown with me can I ask you a question? He looked at me with a doubt.. and I asked him ki agar mai is wakt ek bottle blood aur donate karna chahue to.. he said madam apko adha ghanta aur punishment dene mein mujhe kya maja ayega?? ha ha ha everybody was laughing in the hospital then... Actually since the needle was not properly located, the doc had to stand with me for the entire period of 30 minutes and hold the needle else it would have taken much more time for me to donate 350 ml of blood [:D]..Later on when i naratted this incident to my friends I realized that it was again one of my Kaand type ka incident and so I am penning it down [;)]..
